NINE PARTS OF SPEECH by David B. Tower and Benjamin F. Tweed (Recite along with Mrs. Isbell)

Three little words you often see
Are articles – a, an, and the.
A noun’s the name of anything
As school or garden, hoop or swing.
Adjectives describe the ‘kind of noun’
As great, small, pretty, white or brown.
Instead of nouns, the pronouns stand –
Her head, his face, your arm, my hand.
Verbs tell of something to be done –
To read, count, sing, to laugh or run.
How things are done the adverbs tell,
As slowly, quickly, ill or well.
Conjunctions join the words together,
As men and women, wind or weather.

The preposition stands before
A noun, as in or through a door.
The interjection shows surprise,
As Oh! How pretty! Oh! How wise!
The whole are called nine parts of speech,
Which reading, writing, speaking teach.

  3. Our Father: A Study of the Lord’s Prayer
    http://www.abcog.org/prayer.htm
    St. Matthew 6:9-13
After this manner therefore pray ye
Our Father which art in heaven,
    Hallowed be thy name.
    Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done, as in heaven, so on earth.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
