…………………FROM THE DESK OF THE FOUNDER

Thanks for your inquiry about the Janice Mitchell Isbell Academy (JMIA). We are excited about our accomplishments since August 2001. This year is no different.  We have embarked upon a journey that will elevate our students to peak performance! The sky is the limit!  Starting in August 2009, the JMIA only serves students in grades 6 -8 who are struggling in a traditional classroom.

The purposes of the Janice Mitchell Isbell Academy (JMIA) are:
(1) Provide educational services for at-risk students.
(2) Accelerate the knowledge, skill, and abilities of the students to at and/or above grade-level expectations.

The following information can be obtained via the web link (JMIA Registration Packet) at the bottom of the page:
(1) Registration Form
(2) Request for Student’s Records Form
(3) Medication Release Form

Print and complete the forms and mail to: Janice Mitchell Isbell Academy, 17811 Seven Mile Post Rd, Athens AL 35611-8462 or email isbell_acaddemy@yahoo.com. We encourage family involvement in the education of our students. The teachers work closely with the parents/guardians to ensure all is being accomplished to ensure the success of the students.

The JMIA is a non-profit, tax-exempt, private, institution of learning. The JMIA believes in training the whole student – intellectual, social, spiritual, and physical. Isbell Academy admits students of any race, color, nationality, religion, and ethnic origin. The JMIA does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, national or ethnic origin, age, or physical disability in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies, tuition assistance and loan programs, athletic and other school sponsored programs.

ED’s National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) is the main federal organization responsible for collecting and analyzing data related to education.

The NCES FastFacts page provides quick statistical answers to basic questions about education, such as Are American students performing better in reading now than in the past? and How many educational institutions exist in the U.S.?

The Nation’s Report Card presents the results of the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), which measures student achievement in the U.S. in various subjects over time.

The Tables and Figures search lets you search from one location all the tables, figures, and charts published in a number of large data collections and publications.

NCES provides data tools that let you locate schools with certain characteristics, build custom tables from NCES data, and view state and school district profiles.

  3. Hi there, I wanted to reach out and see if I might be able to send your school a little more information about the Christian entrepreneurship curriculum we developed in cooperation with Baylor University and Prestonwood Christian Academy (the largest private school in North Texas). We would love to partner with you to roll out a new entrepreneurship class at your school.

The curriculum is fully digital and helps students start real businesses and develop real world practical skills leveraging everything they are learning in their other classes. Students also learn first hand how to glorify God with their work and their business. The feedback from our current schools is that they love how this sets them apart from other schools in their area, so I’d love to see if this might be a fit at your school, too.

Could I send you a little more information about our course and how easy it is to launch?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Best,
    Charlie Gasmire
